The song was also discussed during Perry’s appearance on Unfamous the Podcast with songwriter Justin Tranter, where she opened up about the inspiration behind the track.

Perry shared that the song came from a period where she was “wrestling with” her darkness and reflecting on a difficult year. She also spoke about allowing herself to feel pain and anger, learning from those emotions, and moving forward.

With “Watch It Burn”, fans may be getting a more reflective side of Katy Perry. While she is known for big pop hits like Firework, Roar, Teenage Dream and Dark Horse, this upcoming single gives listeners a glimpse into a more personal chapter.
